Keller was settled in the 1840s as part of the Peters Colony, by Missouri families who homesteaded near the headwaters of Big Bear Creek. In 1881, the settlement was named after John C. Keller, a foreman on the railroad, after Keller became a stop on the Texas Pacific Railway, extending north from Fort Worth to Texarkana. In its early years, Keller prospered as a farming community.
Mostly residential, Keller boasts more than three hundred acres of parkland and more than twenty-six miles of hiking and biking trails. Money Magazine rated Keller as one of the ten “Best Places to Live” in the US in 2009, ranked number seven.
Keller has a growing bevy of restaurants; here are eight of the best available. These Keller restaurants participate in take-out and curbside pick-up, with dine-in at 50% capacity or 125 people, whichever is less.

A fusion of Mexican, Caribbean and Peruvian dishes, Boca 31, led by Chef-owner Andres Meraz, is home to popular Latin street food like tacos, empanadas, and sandwiches including the Peruvian, made with guajillo pork loin with charred sweet potato.
The palate-seducing menu reflects Chef Andres’ culinary background of experiences at The Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay, Carnelian Room in San Francisco, DiLido Beach Club at the Ritz Carlton South Beach Hotel, as well as Restaurante Akelarre, a 3 Star Michelin Restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain to name a few.

I indulged in the Peruvian Chicken Sandwich, with citrus onions, charred sweet potatoes, served with a side salad, or you can select chips.
I had to try a Spinach Empanada, and the spinach, goat cheese, and caramelized onions served with garlic crema was a culinary hit.
For Taco Tuesday, choose the pulled pork plantain tostadas with pinto beans, crema, spicy salsa, Roja cabbage, and queso.
Marcello, my friendly server, talked me into a dessert empanada, the guava and cream cheese, a delicate blend of flavors, but not too sweet. Two locations, Denton and Keller.
Open for dine-in; closes at 4 pm. To go orders, curbside pick-up when you call ahead; Grub Hub, seamless.com, and Door-Dash orders. Make sure to treat your mouth (Boca in Spanish) to one of the best restaurants in Keller.
Maria Cuca’s Mexican Cuisine

Maria Cuca’s, a spacious cantina with exposed-brick walls, boasts traditional family recipes perfected over the generations, along with inventive margaritas.
For appetizers, try the guacamole prepared fresh at your table; nachos, quesadillas, stuffed jalapenos, burritos, or the Cuca’s Platter with a stuffed pepper, bean nachos, chicken and beef flautas, fried burrito, cheese quesadilla, guacamole, sour cream, and chili con queso. Oh, my goodness, that’s a meal-in-itself.
For tacos, your choices are brisket, al carbon, shrimp, fish, sopes, pork, or veggie. Did they leave anything out?
Choose a Fajita Salad or Taco Salad or traditional Tortilla Soup served with chicken, cheese, fresh avocado slices, and tortilla strips.
For the main meal, Maria Cuca’s offers Fajitas Parrillada, a combo of beef, chicken, sausage, pork, and shrimp; Chili Rellenos, Carne Asada, Carnitas, seafood platters, burritos, chimichangas, flautas, or enchilada platters. What a selection!
I had the creative Camarones Vallarta; six jumbo shrimp sautéed in crab meat sauce in a pineapple boat, served with rice and veggies. Delectable! And, if you have room, choose handmade sopapillas, homemade flan, or pecan pie for dessert.
Happy hour Monday-Friday, 11 am-7 pm with $2 off all margaritas: Margaritas: Mongomoy, Peachmoy, Cuca’s Premium, Skinny, Frozen Swirl, Pina Colada, Strawberry Daiquiri, or Beer-Rita. Or order a Micheladas, a traditional Mexican drink with unique spices, and clamato, with room to pour your Mexican beer on top.

DeVivo Bros. Eatery
750 S Main St, Ste 165 // (817) 431-6890
John and Ralph Devivo, connoisseurs since childhood, offer the freshest food from the freshest ingredients; you’ll find everything at this locally owned and family operated American and Italian comfort food eatery, all made from scratch.
The brothers, coming from an Italian home and heritage, have a motto: “When you cook for someone, you’re giving them a gift; a gift you took the time to grow or find, prepare, and present just perfectly.” With over fifty years in the restaurant business, the brothers live up to this motto daily, from the rustic Italian fare, household baked goods, charming setting, outdoor patio seating, and the warm, friendly service.
The décor is rustic but elegant, with raw wood, black table cloths, and wine glasses. Bring your bottle of wine; they have the wine glasses, opener, and means to keep it chilled.
Order from the counter, filled with a variety of tempting three-layer cakes, brownies, and cookies, get your number, be seated, and your home-made dish will be delivered promptly to your table.
The kind of food that warms the soul, I order the Stuffed Mushrooms at each visit. The homemade flavors in the wine sauce blend perfectly with the spicy sausage stuffing.
I’ve ordered the Calamari with marinara sauce piled high on a dinner plate on one occasion, and the Meatballs as an appetizer on another. My husband consistently orders the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and fresh green peas.
You’ll find Award-Winning Cuisine: Best of the Best from the Keller Citizen, 2014-2017; Winner of Living Magazine Best of Reader’s Choice 2018-2019. They also operate the Hook and Ladder Pizza Company Food Truck, for catering occasions.
Open for dine-in. To go orders, curbside pick-up when you call ahead. Door-Dash. However you choose to get your food, make sure you get it from one of the best restaurants in Keller.
Seven Mile Café

Open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, Kevin and Josi Klingele “look forward to making breakfast all about you,” at Seven Mile Café, named after their favorite beach that they visited on their honeymoon cruise.
You will find a Southern-style breakfast, expresso bar, and gluten-sensitive and vegan options on this creative breakfast and lunch menu.
I ordered the California Benny – eggs benedict with bacon and avocado on a toasted biscuit with creamy hollandaise sauce, and I subbed the hash browns for a side of fruit. The eggs were cooked perfectly firm as requested.
My husband ordered the Gravy Train, biscuits, and gravy with two fried eggs and hash browns.
The coffee was so good; we ordered a bag: Stumptown Coffee Roasters El Injerto Bourbon with notes of orange blossom, honey, and fresh butter. “It tastes like a mountain sunrise.”
They have three other locations in Denton, Fort Worth, and Highland Village. If you are looking for a restaurant in Keller, this is one to try.

FnG Eats
201 Town Center Ln, # 1101 // (817) 741-5200
Meet Chef Carlos “Flaco” Arevalo and Chef Bob “Gordo” Stephenson – Falco ‘n Gordo – thus FnG Eats. This casual upscale eatery and bar offers creative American food from locally sourced purveyors and the Keller Farmer’s Market. You’ll find brunch, lunch, dinner, and all those moments in between, “Where you’re always welcome.”
Enjoy small plates like deviled eggs or Keller flatbreads, weekly creations featuring fresh, seasonal and “twisted” offerings from chefs Carlos and Bob; entrees from smoked brisket cottage pie to freshwater trout, desserts, and seasonal creative cocktails, for “a rollercoaster ride on the taste of flavors.”
I indulged in the Scottish Wild Salmon, perfectly cooked, and infused with saffron lemon butter and served with greens. The mild salmon practically melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the famous FnG Burger, cooked to order, with crispy seasoned fries.
After working together in Las Colinas at Café Pacific for many years, the two chefs opened their location in Keller and joined forces to “put a culinary twist on your favorite dish.”
For dessert, we had Arroz con Tres Leches, rice pudding, not too sweet, tasting like the Mexican cake.
FnG Eats, an open kitchen with a modern industrial feel, also offers customized private dining options paired with wines or creative catering options; a must-try Keller restaurant.
Dine-in, take-out; Ubereats.
The Lost Cajun
721 Keller Parkway #116 // (682) 593-7555
Jason “Jay” and Janice Smith, originally from South Louisiana, moved to the DFW area shortly after Hurricane Katrina and made their home here. They opened The Lost Cajun, prioritizing four things above all else; faith, family, friends, and of course, food.
The Menu offers a sampling board of six traditional Cajun features: seafood gumbo, chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee, lobster bisque, and jambalaya. What a great idea to get a sampling to help make your decision.
I ordered boudin balls for an appetizer and a shrimp po-boy with seafood gumbo for my main lunch.
The menu features Abita beers from Louisiana: Purple Haze, Turbodog, Wrought Iron IPA, Amber, Andygator, or Seasonal Harvest Brew. You’ll find domestic beers and Dos Equis, and Shiner. Have Red or White Porch Wine – “the kinda wine that you sit on the front porch with yo mama and drink out of a box.”
What a hoot! It’s this laid back appeal that makes this such a fun Keller restaurant.
For dessert, order The BEST Beignets, just like Café Du Monde in New Orleans.
The next best thing to strolling Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Lost Cajun, amazingly, is a franchise with other locations in Colorado (8), Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina (3), South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas (9) with more coming to California, Florida, plus additional locations.
Dine-in, take-out. Thelostcajun.com, chownow.com. Open Su 11 am – 3 pm. Closed Monday. Tuesday – Saturday 11 am –8 pm.
Roscoe’s Smokehouse
134 S Main St // (682) 593-7799
At Roscoe’s Smokehouse, find authentic BBQ, cooked low and slow, with tender, fall-off-the-bone goodness, fresh-made sides, and a frozen schooner of 29-degree beer.
Nothing fancy here, just real Texas Barbeque cooked to perfection.
For BBQ plates, you get two sides and Texas toast: Get the Moo-oink-en platter – with everything – comes with two ribs, brisket, pork, sausage and chicken with the traditional potato salad and BBQ pinto beans, or choose mac and cheese, coleslaw, fried okra, street corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, or green beans.
Try BBQ nachos, cheese fries, or the Dumpster with flour tortilla, sausage, grilled onions, corn, pico de gallo, queso, guacamole, and jalapeno ranch sauce, or The Temple of Pork, with corn tortilla, pulled pork, bacon, grilled onions, queso fresco, cilantro, and sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. Carnivorous!
We ordered the sliced beef sandwich with beans and potato salad, and a nice icy cold beer, but forgot to take a picture of the spread until it was gone, eaten without another thought.
Two salads are available, along with sandwiches, tacos, or the BBQ Baker, a fully loaded chopped brisket stuffed baked potato. Blair Pearce and Scott Noojin, owners, have a second location south of Fort Worth in Burleson.
Dine-in, take-out. Doordash and ubereats.com. Closes at 8 pm. For world-class BBQ in Keller, swing by Roscoe’s.
Keller Chophouse
124 Main Street, corner of Main and Taylor Street / / (817) 431-5188
The American steakhouse, serving farm-to-table cuisine, with local fresh produce, creates each dish from scratch. The owners did their research: toured the Certified Angus Beef resource, visited local farms, searched farmers’ markets, and tasted locally brewed beers.
For starters, try the Korean BBQ Quail Knots with kimchi and togarashi, or the Shrimp Ceviche with house-made chicharrones. Select a shaved Brussels sprout salad or, as I did, start with the Lobster Bisque; creamy sherry flavored soup garnished with a large chunk of lobster claw meat.
For entrees, choose the Sous-Vide Pheasant with Brussels sprouts, farro, and pumpkin, or Shrimp Fra Diavolo with U10 shrimp, capellini, garlic, tomato, Calabrian chili, and basil.
For steaks, I ordered the petite filet, a 5 oz. with roasted Yukon potatoes and charred asparagus, cooked perfectly medium, or try the bone-in ribeye, a 22 oz. with twice baked potato gratin, and charred asparagus. Order a side of Lobster Mac and Cheese or a lobster tail.
For fine dining in Keller, you can’t beat this place. Opens at 4 pm. Reservations: opentable.com. Take-out and Delivery: doordash.com.
